Omnis Investments Limited our investment arm which has more than £9 billion of assets under management, has appointed Barings to manage its Omnis European Equity Opportunities Fund.
The appointment to run the £273 million fund from 17 May 2021 follows extensive research of investment managers in the European equity space conducted by the Omnis Investment, Performance & Risk Committee supported by independent investment consultants Fundhouse.
Barings was selected following an assessment against key Omnis criteria and a stringent due diligence process.
Barings’ strong track record highlights the well-established robust and repeatable investment process, which is focused on extensive bottom-up research supported by a strong team of region and sector specialists. Barings has a long and deep history of investing in European equities and particularly in small and medium-sized companies which are a focus of the fund.
The team will be headed by Nick Williams, Head of the Small Cap Equities Team, and co-manager across Barings’ Small Cap strategies, alongside Investment Managers Colin Riddles, Rosemary Simmonds, and William Cuss. The team are further supported by the broader European equity team based in London, who provide invaluable proprietary fundamental analysis to support their disciplined stock selection strategy.
