We have an unwavering commitment to fair, ethical and responsible business practice. We comply with all applicable laws, rules and regulations, as well as our own internal policies and standards. Beyond compliance, our approach is grounded in doing what is right.
How we do things
Our code of conduct (entitled “How We Do Things") sets the standard for how we behave as a business. It reflects our values and guides our decisions, ensuring we operate with integrity, fairness and respect.
We are committed to:
-
Doing what is right, not just what is legally required.
-
Acting with honesty and integrity.
-
Respecting and protecting human rights.
-
Challenging behaviours that fall short of our standards.
-
Communicating openly with regulators and authorities.
-
Conducting business fairly and compliantly.
-
Providing equal opportunities and a safe, harassment-free workplace.
-
Protecting data privacy.
-
Supporting vulnerable customers.
-
Zero tolerance for slavery and human trafficking (please see our Modern Slavery statement).
We know that responsible employment practices are not only ethical but also vital to long-term organisational health and sustainability.
We place our colleagues at the heart of our approach to sustainability, fostering an open, collaborative and inclusive workplace supported by robust equality, diversity and inclusivity and fair pay policies.
Our Inclusion Action Group leads these efforts with regular pay audits, gender pay gap reporting (read our latest report), and longstanding accreditation as a Living Wage Employer.
Our colleagues are essential to our success, which is reflected in our commitment to fair treatment, supportive policies, wellbeing initiatives, varied benefits package, a culture of personal development, and a positive working environment.
We are committed to responsible business conduct, fair competition and integrity. We have a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of bribery, corruption, and any conduct that could create the appearance of impropriety at odds with the interests of our business and our clients.
Our code of conduct covers areas including, but not limited to:
-
Anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing and economic sanctions.
-
Conflicts of interest, anti-bribery, and anti-corruption.
-
Protection of assets, prevention of fraud and crime.
-
Fair competition.
We are committed to acting with integrity and transparency in all tax matters and endeavour to make timely and accurate tax returns.
To demonstrate that The Openwork Partnership is run not only in the interests of our Boards and shareholders, but also with due regard for our colleagues, clients, suppliers and the wider community, our Annual Strategic Reports since 1 January 2019 have included a statement (referred to as a “section 172(1) statement”).
This statement explains how, in fulfilling our duty to promote the success of the company, we have taken into account the following factors the:
-
Likely long-term consequences of decisions.
-
Interests of our colleagues.
-
Need to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, clients and others.

We recognise the importance of timely and accurate payments to our suppliers for their goods and services. On that basis, our policy is to:
-
Settle the terms of payment with our suppliers when agreeing the terms of each transaction;
-
Ensure that our suppliers are made aware of the terms of payment, and;
-
Abide by our terms of payment.
We also provide annual reports setting out our payment practices and policies and our performance by reference to those payment practices and policies.
We are committed to conducting our business with honesty and integrity, and we expect all colleagues, advisers and suppliers to uphold these same high standards.
However, all organisations face the risk that things may go wrong, or that illegal or unethical conduct may occur without being identified immediately. We encourage a culture of openness and accountability, which enables us both to prevent such issues and to address them effectively if they arise.
We have a comprehensive Whistleblowing Policy that applies to all colleagues, advisers, officers, consultants, contractors and agency workers. Through this policy, we aim to:
-
Raise awareness of the importance of identifying and eliminating illegal and unethical conduct within our organisation.
-
Provide clear, independent channels through which concerns can be raised.
-
Ensure that, where requested, anonymity and confidentiality are fully protected throughout the process.
