Stacey Haughey is a dedicated Mortgage and Protection Adviser at Pia Financial Solutions, part of The Openwork Partnership. With a career built on trust, personal service and consistent results, Stacey has become a recognised specialist in remortgages, supporting individuals and families at every stage of their journey.
Her story reflects the strength of advice within The Openwork Partnership, where advisers are supported to build successful businesses while delivering great outcomes for clients.
A career shaped by opportunity
Stacey’s route into financial services began in 2008, when she joined Halifax through a customer service apprenticeship after deciding college was not the right path for her.
"I changed paths when I was at college and realised it wasn’t for me. At the time I was working for a retail giant and found out about an apprenticeship scheme in customer service, which helped me get my job at Halifax and start my career in finance in 2008."
It was during her time as a Banking Adviser that her career took a new direction.
"My head turned towards mortgages when a customer told me I’d suit being a Mortgage Adviser. I was a Banking Adviser at the time and had never really thought about it, but the company then put successful candidates through CeMAP for future mortgage roles."
Stacey was supported early in her career by a manager who recognised her potential.
"I’ll always be thankful to the manager who gave me that chance because she not only selected me for CeMAP, she offered me a job in her mortgage team too. Since 2013, I’ve never looked back."
A move to a new town later brought important personal milestones too.
"I later moved towns and, if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have met my now husband or had our amazing little girl."
Expertise in remortgages and client care
Stacey has developed a strong reputation for her work in the remortgage market and takes real pride in her achievements.
"For the last three years, I’ve achieved ‘Remortgage Hero’ status at Openwork, which I’m really proud of."
Her approach is centred on delivering a tailored service for every client.
"I pride myself on giving a bespoke service that suits each client’s needs and where they are in life. I keep clients in the loop, update them before they need to chase me, and make sure they feel supported throughout the process."
Organisation and proactive advice are key to her success.
"Being organised is a big part of that too, especially when a client’s deal is fast approaching and they need the right advice at the right time."
Above all, Stacey is guided by strong personal values.
"I also believe in treating clients how I’d want my own loved ones to be treated, with honesty, care and respect."
A defining career moment
One of Stacey’s biggest milestones came in 2018 when she made the decision to leave Halifax and step into self employed life with PIA Financial Solutions, part of The Openwork Partnership.
"Taking the leap in 2018 leaving Halifax and joining Openwork and PIA Financial Solutions starting my self employed journey. It's my biggest highlight but also the most terrifying which thankfully has worked out for me both in career and life."
With the support of the network behind her, Stacey has built a business that works for both her clients and her family.
What makes a great mortgage adviser
For Stacey, great advice starts from the very first conversation.
"Start helping clients from the moment they approach you. Even if they’re not ready to buy yet, give them a plan, be honest, set expectations and keep things clear without jargon."
Building lasting relationships is at the heart of her work
"I love helping people buy their first home, then later seeing them buy with a partner and start a family."
She also values the power of personal recommendation.
"My husband calls it ‘the water cooler’ when friends are chatting over coffee or colleagues are on a quick break and someone mentions moving, my name comes up. I love that."
Life beyond the day job
Outside of work, Stacey enjoys staying active and spending time with her family.
"I attempt to play Netball once a week, I say play, it's more like run around like crazy and hope for the best and don't break anything."
She is also embracing new challenges.
"I'm 36 years old and I'm only just learning to swim, Olympics here I come!"
Stacey has also been involved in charity fundraising in her local community.
"In 2015, my then mortgage team did some charity fundraising in local schools and I was Pudsey Bear."
Supported by The Openwork Partnership
Being part of The Openwork Partnership gives Stacey the best of both worlds, independence in her business with the backing of a trusted network.
"Both in Openwork and Pia I'm a part of a fantastic group that is there when I need support, advice and tips. I can meet wonderful people along the way."
It also gives her the flexibility to build a career that works around her life.
"It allows me to be flexible with my own business. I feel fortunate that this is what I do for a living, it works around me and my family and not the other way round. I have a career that I truly love and don't get a ‘Monday blues’ feeling from it."
